Top Secret to a Long Life

Everyone wants to live longer and we spend a lot of money trying to find the secrets to living a longer life. We buy potions, pills, creams and exercise equipment – all in an effort to maintain or regain our youth. We spend a great deal of our hard earned money to looking younger. Some of it works, but most of it does not.

I have six living uncles and aunts and the YOUNGEST is 90 years old. I have always maintained that the harder you work, the younger you feel. Even though I will soon be 65, I still work and play like I did many years ago. In fact, I work a lot harder today than I did 10 or even 20 years ago and I love to be busy. Being busy helps you to think younger, act younger and look younger, Yes, longevity runs in my family, but more importantly there is an underlying fact that we have all put into practice.

There are too many books on How to Live Longer but there are some very simple recipes for living a successful long life.

First and foremost – Plan on it. Just that simple. Plan on it. You have to plan to live a long time and plan your future, short term and long term. Dream about the future no matter what terrible things lay in your past. No matter what has happened in the past, dream about tomorrow. You can’t change yesterday but you CAN change tomorrow. The less you dwell on the past, the more you will dwell on your future. The future is always brighter.

Your future STOPS when you stop planning your future! Did you get that? Your future STOPS when you stop planning your future.

Attitude is crucial to long life. Instead of dwelling on what is wrong with your present state, start thinking about all the good in your life. Instead of talking about your current woes, talk about how bright your future is looking. Find things to be thankful for and see how much better you feel.

God only knows how long I will live but I’m having a ball planning my future. Always think about tomorrow and you won’t lose sight of today. Start planning your future today!

My brother is 75 years young. He loves classic cars. They are his passion. Yesterday’s treasures are a serious part of his future. He loves to buy them, restore them and sell them. I have a few in my collection as well. They are part of my past that is paying for my future. What is yours?

Your passion today can be your security tomorrow.

Meet Carol Graham

Carol Graham has written 23 posts in this blog.

I am a wife, mother of two and grandmother of three. Family is of first importance, which includes many 4 legged members. Currently, I own and help operate two jewelry stores with my husband. My passion is being a health coach, which I have been doing for over 30 years. I survived cancer 40 years ago using alternative methods, which started me on the road to better health. Another great passion is public speaking. I am a motivational speaker that has much to share in the area of survival against all odds. I lived an intense life of outrageous traumatic events, always a fighter and a winner over cancer, rape, marital abuse, jail, loss of child, huge financial losses from fraud and greed of others. I strongly believe that laughter will get you through almost anything. I have just finished my memoir - Battered Hope - which was released this past summer. This fast paced memoir reads with all the elements of a good novel – character, conflict, suspense, and resolution. Follow my family through insurmountable hardships and witness the tenacity it takes for me to survive. It is a story of hope, perseverance, and faith.
