Filling A Bucket or Building A Pipeline?

Ready For Retirement: Are You Filling Buckets or Building a Pipeline?

by Jeng Cua

If you will be given a choice to collect water from the river which one will you pick?

A Bucket? or A Pipeline?

Burke Hedges, the author of the book “Parable of the Pipeline”, explains that going to work is a similar phenomenon.

Most people trade their time for money – if you have a job or working for someone else where you work for a specific task done as part of the routine of one’s occupation for an agreed price. Services in exchange of your monthly salary that requires you to trade your time, effort, talent for money. This is no difference in filling your bucket each day with money because if you stop working, you run out of money. If you want more money you have to work more and this is where you have to carry more buckets.

While building a pipeline is a smarter way to have money flowing into your life even when you’ve stopped working. This is where money is the one working for you. There will be no limit on how much you can earn each day, each month and each year.

I want you to ask yourself for a moment. When you stop working how are you going to pay your monthly bills? How are you going to send your kids to college? and How are you going to do the things that you want to do in life?

Have you ever wondered if you are prepared to stop working tomorrow, next week or one year from now?

Building a Pipeline A better Approach To Weatlh….

We all have different approach in life – some people are happy and contented working for someone and some people are not. Most people are working harder and work longer hours to earn more money. But, to some smart people they think on how they could be more effective, productive so they can leverage their income – building your pipeline to have the money coming in to you everyday even when you decided to stop working is a better approach in building your system – your pipeline!

So now, let me ask you one more time….are you filling buckets or building a pipeline?

Filling buckets – the traditional 9-to-5 employee, while building a pipeline is the entrepreneur who builds a system which can generate an autopilot passive income. Building a pipeline will take some time and you will not see an immediate income compared if you have a fixed monthly salary from your job, but once you get the pipeline built – money will continue to flow day in and day out, no matter what you are doing or no matter where you are in the world.

Once you built your pipeline you just need to be consistent to do a little maintenance from time to time to maintain your pipeline in good condition.

Building your pipeline is the best and smartest way to go if you want your money working for you and not you working for the money.
