Newbie Advisor Blog

Since I have a lot of experience in being a newbie and can still remember what I went through getting on the internet for the first time and being bombarded with internet opportunities before I was ready to understand what it took to work them, I've become a sort of newbie adviser and have written quite a few articles to help newbies make sense of all the jargon and learn a simpler way of doing things than the "experts" really want to teach you.

I've recently starting creating videos to help newbies do simple basic things like setting up a Paypal Account or using a tabbed browser when doing simple tasks to make them faster and easier to do. I'll be adding new ones as time goes by. So if you're interested in seeing some of what I'm doing, go to http://www.youtube.com and look me up. My id there is heartuvgold.

How Do You Know For Sure if it's a Scam?

There are a lot of sites on the internet that the owner may start out with good intentions and then things go wrong, as they often do and people are disgruntled and start reporting that it's a scam. I've seen it happen many times.

But then there are some sites that just smell fishy. There's just something about them that screams SCAM and you know that there's no way that they could pay the amount of money they claim to pay and still stay afloat.

Even when people report these sites, they have to have some type of proof or they can be sued for slander or liable. So how do you go about proving that a site is a scam?

One way is to pay close attention to the red flags that come up, for instance, if the owner/admin isn't available or they have false contact information or worse, no contact information.

Check the whois database. Run the domain name at whois.net and look to see who owns the site and how long it's been in operation. Check the information on the site against the information at whois. If they don't match, it's probably not legit. You might also search for it on the high traffic scam report sites like scam.com and see if there have been any previous reports.

Check the statistical information, such as how much has been paid in/out and how many members are online. If it doesn't change, then the owner is probably just manipulating the script to show what he wants to show.

Last but not least, talk to people and get their experiences with this site. Have they been paid? Have they been in contact with the owner? Were they friendly or did they evade certain questions?

Before you invest any money in anything online, make sure you do your due diligence and check out everything you can to make reasonably sure that it's legitimate and don't just take someone's word for it.

If you have any doubt about a site or business opportunity, make a report and we will be more than happy to check it out for you.
